Frank Lloyd Wright
(Richland Center, June 8, 1867 – Phoenix, April 9, 1959) Frank Lloyd Wright was an American architect, among the most influential of the twentieth century. Along with Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Alvar Aalto, he is one of the masters of the Modern Movement in Architecture. In 2011, President Barack Obama declares the United States’ aim to submit to UNESCO the candidacy of the works of Frank Lloyd Wright as World Heritage. In his long career, Frank Lloyd Wright has designed about a thousand projects (532 of which were completed): homes, offices, schools, libraries and more. His idea of architecture was based on the rejection of the mere aesthetic and superficiality. Wright believed in designing structures in harmony with humanity and environment, integrating the artificial elements into the natural ones.
