Historical notes
The 'Tripolina' is a folding chair made out of wood and fabric. The Tripolina was first introduced to the public at the international fair in St. Louis in 1904 by Joseph Fendy, who patented the design in 1877. The original author of the chair is actually anonymous. The first known uses of Tripolina chair was the support to to the English troops in the XIX century war campaigns. The chair has significantly inspired an indeterminate number of other folding chairs, for example the famous BKF Chair, that uses the curved metal parts instead of wood and the Kenia chair by Vico Magistretti. It is easy to assemble and disassemble, the versatile design of the chair employs a canvas fabric with pockets that slip over the structure
