Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Charles Rennie Mackintosh was born in Glasgow on 7, June 1868. In 1890 he was the second winner of the Alexander Thomson Scholarship for Study Travels, founded for the advancement of studies of ancient classical architecture. Once returned, he went back to work in the Honeyman and Keppie architecture studio, where he began his first major architectural project, the Glasgow Herald Building, in 1893.
After designing several famous buildings, he became a partner in the Honeyman and Keppie studio in 1903.In 1906 he designed the Scotland Street School. In 1916 Mackintosh received a commission to redesign the home of W. J. Bassett-Lowke.
